Many icons were explored.
Viacom needed a new logo–a forward looking wordmark for the global mass media
corporation. The exploration lasted almost a year, involved several outside studios and required
many nights and weekends from me, but it was well worth the effort when Tom Freston chose
my design. Loosely based on the geometric sans-serif font Handel Gothic, the final typography
suggests a bold, technical, futuristic look for the company.
